The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is the world's only truly global meeting place for those interested in creativity in communications. Each year, it awards Lions to the best work in brand communications across all media platforms and offers an intense learning programme during Festival week.
During seven days, close to 10,000 people from over around 90 different countries gather in Cannes to network, listen to speakers such as Sir Martin Sorrell, Bob Greenberg, Kofi Annan, Mark Zuckerberg, Rupert Murdoch, Biz Stone, Al Gore, Maurice Lévy and David Droga, discuss the future of creative communications, and study around 30,000 pieces of entered work across eleven categories: Film, Press, Outdoor, Cyber, Creative Effectiveness, Media, Direct, Radio, Promo & Activation, Film Craft, Design, PR, Titanium and Integrated. The winners are celebrated at four award ceremonies throughout the week.
The Festival tries to support young talent as much as possible and organises Young Lions Competitions during Festival week which challenge young creative teams to finish a piece of advertising for a charity in 24 hours. Also, young creative professionals and clients have their own area at the Festival venue, the Young Lions Zone, where master classes are held that focus on issues relevant to them.
